Anime opening/ending top 100 (part IV)

With the end of the month passed it's time for the fourth installment of my personal anime opening and ending top 100. Because of the large amount of work I had previous month I couldn't update in time, but as of now things should be back to their normal pace. :)

#70  Kiddy Grade OP2 : Mirai no Kioku
Megumi Kadonosono was the character designer for Kiddy Grade and quickly became one of my favorite character designers all around. She has a distinct style that also returns in Uta~Kata, another anime she made character designs for. The costumes of Eclair and Lumière, the main characters, are really nice and the story is not as shallow as the first episode might let you on. All in all Kiddy Grade is a nice sci-fi anime with characters that are great to look at.

 #69  Bokurano OP : Uninstall
The opening song of Bokurano sends shivers down my spine everytime I watch it. This is probably why it ranks a bit "higher" for me. The opening itself is quite mysterious, but gives a nice overview of the many characters in the series. Sadly I've only watched one episode of Bokurano, so there's not much else I can say about it.

 #68  2x2 Shinobuden OP : Shinobu Sanjou!
2x2 Shinobuden is downright crazy from beginning to end. The opening is also very bouncy and upbeat but has almost nothing to do with the story. :p (and there isn't exactly much story to begin with) 2x2 Shinobuden is most enjoyable to watch when you just want some brainless fun.

#67  Lucky Star OP : Motteke! Sailor Fuku
There was a time when Lucky Star was a big unstoppable hype. In a way this might have been because of the similarities with Azumanga Daioh. Both are slice-of-life anime which focus on humor to amuse their viewers, which can sometimes edge towards downright sillyness. (like a 15 minute long discussion on how to eat a puddingcone for example...) The character that probably makes this show what it is is Konata, a small, blue longhaired girl who is the embodiment of a female otaku. The opening has also been subject to numerous parodies because of its catchyness and lyrics that are slightly random.

#66  Scrapped Princess ED : Daichi no la-li-la
Scrapped Princess is a great fantasy tale about a princess who was supposedly killed at birth, believed to be the "poison that will destroy the world". She gets rescued by a court wizard and gets adopted into the Casul family, who travel with her to the Kingdom of Leinwan.

#65  Vandread 2nd Stage OP : Fight for your Justice
After Vandread came Vandread 2nd Stage, with a darker (yet exciting) plot overshadowing the humor. I've never finished 2nd Stage because I was stuck on episode 4, something I still regret a little. Perhaps it might be a good idea to pick it up again and relive some of my first years in the anime fandom. :)

#64  Noir OP : Coppelia no Hitsugi
The opening of Noir has a mysterious undertone that fits with the more-than-it-initially-let's-you-on past of the main characters and the organisation that overlooks it all. Noir was the first of Bee Train's installments of girls with guns and is probably the best of them all. Back then Noir was most known for showing the face of the main characters as they were shooting their gun, making an emotional click with the viewer.

#63  Samurai Champloo OP : Battlecry
As the opening song suggests, Samurai Champloo is not exactly an ordinary anime set in the Edo period of Japan. The music for example is certainly not what you expect, being heavily influenced by rap and hip-hop. Some modern styles and references are also used throughout the story, however it relies on factual events in the Edo period as well. But somehow, for Samurai Champloo it just works. :)

#62  Durarara!! OP : Uragiri no Yuyake
Durarara!! is a story about a mysterious biker, also dubbed "The Headless Rider", working as an underground courier in Ikebukuro in Japan, an internet-based anonymous gang called the Dollars and the chaos that unfolds around the most dangerous people in Ikebukuro. Like its predecessor Baccano, Durarara!! manages to brilliantly incorperate countless characters and storylines and connect them all together in one big event.

 #61  X-TV OP : eX-Dream
X or X/1999 is probably one of the most known titles of the talented women of CLAMP. The story revolves around a young Esper named Kamui and his involvement in the two factions called the Dragons of the Earth and the Dragons of Heaven who battle to decide the fate of the end of the world.
